In general, Virginia Freemasons are committed to high standards of excellence, and part of this commitment is carried out by The Scholarship Fund, Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M., of Virginia. It operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is a Virginia Corporation licensed by the State Corporation Commission.
Its purpose is to provide scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance to deserving men and women from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Scholarship recipients are deserving men and women, residing in the Commonwealth of Virginia, who are selected on the following basis:
Merit includes academic achievement, class rank, standardized test scores, participation in high school, church or synagogue activities, as well as the quality of application essays.
Need is determined by the applicant’s financial status. The financial evaluation will include a review of the family’s adjusted gross income, checking and savings accounts, stocks and securities, equity in land and real estate holdings, etc. This evaluation helps to determine the applicant’s ability to obtain assistance from financial institutions.

Calling all Golfers!! The Ian McLaurin Shipley, Jr., Memorial Golf Tournament is a fundraiser for our Grand Lodge Scholarship Program and is held annually. You don’t have to be a golfer to make a contribution to this worthy charity — there is a need not only for hole sponsors, but we need gifts of golf balls and equipment, household items, tools, snacks and anything of value to give away. Every sponsor WILL be acknowledged. This is a great way to get the good name of a business involved with our history and our youth! If you have any questions, please contact the Brother shown on the brochure linked above. To fill out the form on your computer, please download the form first.
